Senate Resolution 7

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. RUSSELL W. FERGUSON UPON HIS RETIREMENT AND FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.

WHEREAS, Russell W. Ferguson has been a lifelong resident of Hinds County, Mississippi, where he has worked in government service for 38 years; and

WHEREAS, Russell W. Ferguson served in the Mississippi National Guard as a communications specialist from 1961 to 1967; and

WHEREAS, Russell W. Ferguson worked for the Mississippi Department of Transportation (formerly the State Highway Department) from 1967 until 1970; and

WHEREAS, Russell W. Ferguson worked for the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (formerly the Central Data Processing Authority) from 1970 until January 31, 1999, serving as deputy director for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, through his diligence and dedication, Russell W. Ferguson has significantly contributed to the appropriate and cost-effective use of technology throughout state government; and

WHEREAS, the Mississippi Senate finds it most appropriate to pay special tribute to such an outstanding citizen as Russell W. Ferguson, who has served the citizens of Mississippi to the best of his ability in carrying out his many duties of public service in the information technology:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, That we do hereby commend Russell W. Ferguson on the many professional accomplishments of his career and extend him our appreciation for his many years of dedicated service to the citizens of the State of Mississippi.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Russell W. Ferguson and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
